Set up your profile
Your profile is where you tell Refiner-AI how to work for you. It comes in two parts: your User Profile — how the AI writes — and your App Profile — how the app behaves. Both live under a single menu, so you set them up in one place.
What’s in a profile
User Profile — how the AI writes
- Profile (tone, style, audience) — a free-text description of how you want your text to sound. It starts as “Professional, concise, friendly tone.” Every card follows it unless the card overrides it.
- Language — the content language the AI writes its results in (English by default; 20 languages supported).
App Profile — how the app behaves
- App language — the language of the app’s own interface.
- Floating menu — how many Refiner and Examine cards appear in the quick menu (5 each by default).
- Global shortcut — the keyboard shortcut that opens the floating menu (⌘O by default).
1. Open Refiner-AI
Refiner-AI lives in your Mac’s menu bar as a wand icon (✨). Click it to open the popover.

2. Open the menu
Click the Menu button (the ⋯ at the bottom of the popover).

3. Choose “User and App Profile”
Pick User and App Profile to open Settings, where you can edit everything above.
4. Edit and save
Write your User Profile — for example, “Warm but professional. Write for busy colleagues. Prefer short sentences and no jargon.” — and set your Language if you don’t write in English. Adjust your App Profile if you like, then click Save.

Every card now uses your User Profile by default. Want one card to sound different? See Refine with a different profile.
