Examine a selection step by step

This walkthrough shows the whole flow: pick some text, run an Examine card, and read the result — all without touching your original.

1. Select the text

Highlight the passage you want to examine — in any app. It can be a long paragraph, a message, or a block of technical writing.

2. Run an Examine card

Press your shortcut (⌘O) to open the floating menu. Under the Examine section, click the card you want — for example a Summarize or Explain card.

3. Read the result

The result opens in its own window, titled after the card you ran. Your selected text stays exactly where it was.

From the result window you can:

Copy the output to your clipboard with the button at the top-right (it briefly shows Copied).
Select any part of the text to copy manually.
Resize the window, or close it when you’re done.

That’s it — examine as often as you like; nothing you look at gets changed.

Tip: Pair Examine with context too. If a context is active, it’s included when you examine, so a summary or explanation can account for the background you stored.
