Grant accessibility access

To refine text in place, Refiner-AI needs to read your current selection and write the result back into whatever app you’re using. macOS gates that ability behind Accessibility permission, so you grant it once, up front.

Grant the permission

The first time you refine, macOS shows an alert — Accessibility Permission Required — with an Open System Settings button. You can also do it manually any time:

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
  2. Find Refiner-AI in the list and turn its switch on. If it isn’t listed, add it with the + button (or drag the app in from Applications).
  3. That’s it — Refiner-AI starts working immediately; no restart needed.

If refining still doesn’t work

  • Toggle it off and back on. If Refiner-AI is already in the list but nothing happens, switch it off, then on again — that re-arms the permission.
  • Check you granted it to the right app. Make sure the entry points at the Refiner-AI you’re actually running (the one in Applications).

Once accessibility is granted, everything in Refine text works as described — select, press your shortcut, pick a card, done.
